THE VENETIAN WORKSHOP

CREATIVE INCUBATOR & IDENTITY LAB

16 June - 25 July 2024, VENICE ITALY

Bespoke residency focused ON 21st century PATHFINDING

  • You can be anything! Which sometimes means it is hard to be something.

Singboard from the creative industries to uncover your authentic self and discern a future.

You will not learn to compose, per se, but to think, be and create, with the freedom of a composer.

  • Create a process to guide you as you negotiate change today and through the multitude of transitions expected in the future.

  • Life is an art — and to make good art, you have to distill your self and own your ideas.

Guided steps draw together the dots of each person's pathway — based on who they are, what's important to them, where they want to go in life and, by figuring out what they know and need to know.

  • We focus on everything you can only experience in person — diplomacy, protocol, hospitality, service, sales, networking — which in turn provide a context for life long learning, creativity, leadership, sustainability, cooperation and community.

    We dream of the future.

  • At the centre of western civilisation with significant UNESCO World Heritage; between the natural playgrounds of the mountains and the sea and nestled within its life-preserving lagoon; there’s a tiny, pedestrian island with native culture, language and cuisine that will change your life.

It is also a chance to support and learn about the importance of culture. With population declining at an alarming rate, Venice heritage is no longer in peril, today it is the Venetians and their culture.

Regional travel to Padova, Ravenna & Vicenza.

  • Motivated young adults looking for exploration and experimentation and able to live and work in English.

We encourage mixed age groups as another way to equip ourselves with sustainable, humane community living.

PARTICIPANTS

Participants should be motivated to engage and put themselves outside their comfort zone in order to maximise their time developing their ideas and the impact they want to make.

These are universal skill sets but participants may be interested in global business, international law, culture, community building, value creation, experience making, broad humanities and the arts, with an underlying desire to construct a life full of benefits for themselves as well as improving their world at large.

The course requires a commitment to step up and hold oneself accountable, living offline up to 80% of the time. As well as a feeling of connection, we are certain students will develop increased self awareness, agency and confidence.

INSTRUCTORS

Each program draws from an array of talent — international creatives, business insiders and experts. Our supporters are growing every day.

The program includes practical workshops, socratic or interactive lectures, guided visits and conferenza itinerante, personal projects, games and challenges.

FOUNDERS

The founders are New Zealanders, pivoting in their professional careers to build on a belief in the value of the arts — its life affirming and life expanding qualities and its place in creating positively imbued perspective and non-threatening access to greater knowledge.

Uniquely conceived and developed over two years as a focused response to global challenges of mental health, post-industrial education skills alignment and future sensemaking.

With a combined background in psychology, arts management and cultural policy, they also have a lifetime of experience living abroad, navigating cultural diversity and facing identity challenges, as well as raising their own families.
